Strömholm (1918) has been one of Scandinavia’s leading photographers since the 1950-ies. His work has seriously contributed to the development of photography as independent art form in Europe. He developed a photographic language similar to existentialism. Recurring themes in his work are graffiti, prostitution and rituals of death, although he is also interested in portrait photography.
