Corneille (eigenlijk Corneille Guillaume Beverloo) werd in Luik geboren als kind van Nederlandse ouders. Hij was korte tijd leerling van de Rijksacademie in Amsterdam, waar hij in 1940-41 een tekencursus volgde. Na de oorlog vormde hij met Karel Appel en Constant de Experimentele Groep Holland. In 1948 was hij mede-oprichter van de COBRA-beweging …
