Georges Adéagbo (born 1942 in Benin) opens up a paradoxical field of fiction in his installations, which in the post-colonial – and in this sense, also always highly political – discourses, supports relevant fantasies about the Other(s). In doing so, the selection of his themes is just as ingenious as the direction with which the things he has selected are brought into a temporary order, that is also, at all times, capable of being revoked…
180 images of recent installations, information of current and future exhibitions.
The objects, texts and pictures that Adéagbo uses for his installation are manifold, but at the same time limited and clearly defined. The illustrations he commissions are based on the collection of material in his reference library: books, journals, catalogues and brochures that have accumulated over the decades…
An eclectic artist, Adeagbo scavenges from the cultures and communities he interrogates, combining all sorts of ready-mades in his work.
Paris XIème et l’histoire de la vie de Voltaire : l’héritage
"I do not pick up just anything. All the objects are part of the story of my life"

James Rosenquist. Painting Below Zero: Notes on a Life in Art.
“Frank, funny, truthful, ironic and in every way an entertaining account of one major American artist’s involvement in an art movement that interests everyone–and, more than that, of his own character. Jim Rosenquist is a true American original and his book ought to be read by anyone who wants to understand the last half-century of his country’s visual culture, high, low, and in between.” –Robert Hughes, amazon
