Diederen (Heerlen, 1920) volgde eerst de Middelbare Kunstnijverheidsschool in Maastricht en vervolgens de Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Na een korte terugkeer naar Limburg vestigt hij zich vanaf 1947 definitief in Amsterdam. In 1948 heeft hij zijn eerste groepstentoonstelling en in 1957 zijn eerste solotentoonstelling.
