Mauricio Dias and Walter Riedweg embark on conversations with people, as individuals and as members of social groups…

“…is the imaginary, or the lines drawn in sand, on paper, through marks, that many people, animals, would defend; it is just something that is set up and, how it’s done, how do animals know that this is their territory… they mark it. We are a little bit further advanced, we draw lines on a map and there the lines are, and that is our territory and that is whoever else’s territories over there.”

Dias & Riedweg select their conversationalists as a response to the place or environment in which they find themselves.
Their research and collaborations, most often presented in the form of video installations, explore the lives of groups of people who live on the borders of mainstream cultures such as immigrants and prostitutes or literally on a border, such as the border police…
