Artist biography, artworks, statement, interview, review, exhibition:

Harsha’s practice takes shape at the intersection of his keen formal interest in structure as evidenced in his explorations of cellularity, the honeycomb, the grid and the ensemble of figures and his political convictions. In his choice of figuration, colour and spatial distributions, Harsha references the modern Indian narrative tradition that begins with Nandalal Bose; his system of allusions includes the colonial Company and Bazaar styles, the Italian Primitives, the Pahari miniature folios, the comic strip and the textbook illustration…
NS Harsha makes drawings that cover a whole spectrum of Indian life from Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist images to Bollywood.
