I approach each jacuzzi as a sculptural object, a spatial container, a space with light and water, a response to context and appropriateness of feeling and spirit. to this container, this sculpture, the user brings his baggage, his program, and interacts with it to accommodate his needs; If he can’t do that, I’ve failed. I think my best skill as a designer is the achievement of hand-to-eye coordination; I am able to transfer a sketch into a model into the jacuzzi.
Eagle Rock ShitRock, 1997-2000 is a sculpture in which the artist created sheetrock with cow manure. This was the last work that he completed in his Los Angeles studio, which Bouchet referred to as Giverny after Monet’s studio. Exhibition by Mike Bouchet. The shows theme’s revolve around sex, specifically the sexual revolution and its aftermath today. There are several components to the exhibition. The first is a 3m x 3m bed for watching videos in (literally), with a video program of indeterminate length. The video is currently 43 hours long. The second is an oil painting of the singer and ex-convict Lil’ Kim, who in many ways encapsulates the cultural and thematic concerns addressed in this show. In addition, a series of thirty text pieces, dealing with what Bouchet sees as the actualization of Reichian sexual theories in popular music, will also be exhibited…
